I was up in Russell NY last week with a friend of mine who is looking to buy some land, beautiful country especially this time of year.

That's about 100 miles west from me.  I have 30 acres about 50 miles east of Russell (Trout River, NY) ...the land borders the international boundary. BTW: I got an 8 pointer behind my house Saturday in Champlain, NY.

Here that's a 4 pointer but close to home is the best. Didn't get  tag this year but I've see a few. I love the Fall! :)

My buddy was looking at about 2,000 acres around Potsdam.

Yes! We didn't look at the whole property. He's a big fisherman, so it mostly came down to what water was running through the property and how accessible it was, and the fish in it.

Well,  my upholstery days may be numbered.
The boss had a knee replacement a few months ago, two weeks later it got infected and put him in the hospital for a few days. He recovered from that and was doing well,  then last Monday he had a stroke.  :o
At first we thought he was just being quiet which isn't normal.  Then later that afternoon I was watching him put a simple center console together and he seemed confused. That was a big red flag 🚩.
We tried to tell him to go get checked out but he just kept working. Later that night he was taken to the hospital and confirmed stroke. Friday he had surgery on his neck vein to clear out the plaque.

He hasn't lost any mobility but remembering names, cars,  materials is a challenge.  So we text him pictures and then talk to him about the vehicle seemed to help.

Started looking into getting a cdl for driving trucks.
None of the OTR stuff,  maybe dump trucks so I can be home at night.  We'll see I guess.

I have PTSD.

I'm sorry to hear about your boss and, whatever the outcome, I hope he fully recovers and that it doesn't affect you too badly. That being said, and after seeing your quality work, any other upholstery shops in the area? Maybe even your own shop?

Sorry to hear that Rattiac. Sucks all the way around for everyone involved. When i had mine in 2012, that was the first thing my Doc checked..  neck veins. Mine were clear and they pretty much came to the conclusion it was one of the 3 arthritis drug side effects i was on at the time. Hopefully in time most will come back to him. Scary stuff.

I just talked to my buddy last week(?), he was up in Wi. with the film rig for the Packers game. Due to most the sports shut downs last year they had to lay off some drivers mid summer. It left them short on drivers when things opened back up. He has been on the road for just over 7 weeks now.

Getting on a local truck to be home at night... hourly vs. miles hauled is a big plus to many. Hope his memory comes back soon and everything will go back to the way it was.

Sorry to hear that. I've see a lot of people make great recoveries from strokes. Sometimes being around familiar people, places and routines seems to help. The memory is still there he is having trouble accessing it. Good luck to you whatever you need to do.

Sorry to hear about your boss.  I hope he recovers.  I also hope all works out for you.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Not what I did today, but what I am going to do tomorrow... Alternator on a 2008 Nissan Quest. Pull the plastic shields, battery and tray, electric fan, radiator, passenger tire, belt and idler pulley...and finally the alternator. Should be a snap! ::)

I'll be listening for the snap.  ::)

I messed with fitting an aftermarket radiator for a '32 Ford to my '26 Chevy shell. Mostly good, I think I can make it work. Disappointed with how fragile the fins are. Texas grasshoppers will tear it apart. I may just use this one for a pattern for a stronger one. I had to trim the bottom mount plates and I'll need to make some change to the cap.
