The linkage that was hitting the header controls the neutral safety switch, backup lights and locking steering wheel, I can't disable it. So, I did what I had to do and bashed my new ceramic coated header :'( I whacked it good and the linkage still brushes against it when I put the shifter in 1st gear. I'm leaving as is and see how it goes, I'm afraid if I hit it anymore I will split the steel at the weld
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Sometimes things just don't fit without some persuasion. (hammers)  :(

As the wrench turns.... here's where I am at on my son's Camaro. Got the power steering pump in and took a chance ordering a new pressure line for a '78 El Camino, it worked perfect. Started it up, put it in gear...nothing. I forgot to put fluid in the trans!! Put in fluid, started it up...it all leaked out the cooler lines I forgot to tighten!!! :o That's the problem sometimes, with long projects, you forget what you did and didn't do.
Anyway, we are going to pull it out of the garage any minute now, fingers crossed. However, here is my new dilemma: I am using the same radiator and clutch fan that was on the 6cyl., my research says they were used on both 6's and 8's, the problem is the fan is about 4 1/2 inches from the fan and way outside the shroud. Any thoughts?

Incidentally, it has a long water pump. I am starting to think maybe there is a difference between the shrouds on a 6 and 8 cyl.?

Long strung out projects.....yep. You forget where you were.😁

Chopper the 6 was a longer engine, fan shroud was shorter. Get a v8 shroud or measure how long a fan spacer you need to get the blade back into the 6 cyl shroud. I'd guess at 2" -  2-1/2" spacer.

Thanks Sammons, I think I am going to try an 8cyl. shroud. Looking at it, a spacer won't work on the clutch fan because the clutch is in the way of using long bolts.

Chopper get yourself some threaded studs and thread those into the pump flange then slide your spacer on then the clutch fan, apply the nuts, just a thought

Took a ride and the fall colors are starting to pop!
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!
