GM TH-200-4R Transmissions (link added)
« on: January 21, 2019, 04:16:28 PM »
Added the GM TH-200-4R Transmissions link below for anyone considering an OD transmission upgrade from a THM350 or Powerglide transmission without a bunch of alterations.  The 200R4 transmissions are getting hard to find.

why not get the beefier 700-R4 .  Lots of places offer them non electronic.  Simple hookup with lockup wire.  Love it in my 35 coupe and pretty sure the phaeton is going to get one this spring as 350 th and revs 3000 rpm at 60 mph.  700-R4 would get you 2200-2300

The reason to consider the 200R4 is that you won't need to shorten the drive-shaft as required with the longer 700R4. If building from scratch...grab a 700R4 which is beefier and more common. (I have at least 5 stashed away)

okay, question........whats it cost to have a driveshaft just shortened ?  ???????

I had a whole driveshaft just made 2 months ago supplying the yoke for front and rear u-joint plate/yoke for rear.

Total cost was $400

why would you delete it, ?

Simple question, here is what it cost me here $400, was it cheaper at another shop, don't know.  Simply went back to guy who made one for me before for S10.  He supplied U joints and the U joint holders on the ends for each end.

That $400 was for a whole driveshaft not just cutting and shortening an existing unit.

Guess I could have phoned around getting quotes from 5 sources on what it costs ,  but I did not , that's why I asked.  Prices in your area and around the USA will vary widely and I thought a few answers about what people had paid to have it done would be helpful to be posted.
