Front fender brace
« on: January 21, 2019, 03:35:08 PM »
Does anyone know if there is a difference in a 1930 and a 1930 front fender brace?  If so, what makes up the difference?

As always, thanks all...

No, a 1930 front fender brace and a 1930 front fender brace are identical................I'm sorry Munch, I couldn't resist.  ::)

I'm not sure if this helps. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Chevy-All-Models-Front-Fender-Well-Bracket-Brace-Pair-1930-1932/351348525916?hash=item51ce010b5c:g:QPkAAOSwBahVDX9e

I found that rear fender braces and running board braces are interchangeable from 1930 to 1932, no luck on front braces.

Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Thanks Chopper, I meant 1930 and 1931.  Sometimes I'm a few pickles short of a barrel.

yes, they mount too the frame and go over to the fender well and bolts are run thru.  If running a factory original frame the holes should be there.  I had a pair of those 30--32 but much to narrow for 34-35 standard frame.

Got lucky on ebay in November and got the correct 34-35 dual sidemount parts with locks.

I am referring to the brace that sits under  the front fender and the headlight bar bolts through from the top. Similar to the picture of the Ford brace, but with a triangular plate on top with three holes for the headlight bar mounting.

according to the parts book, 1929-1930 fender braces are the same.   1931-1932 use a different brace.  Like the Fender braces you have pictured.

Now I just have to find them.  I got one for the passenger side that is in pretty good shape, but I need on for the driver's side.

62131 do you not run with them on your car?

Munch, if you're not already aware of it, try:  searchtempest.com You can search, virtually craigslist nation-wide with just a few clicks.

You are talking about the ones chopper posted a picture of? Not at this time, I knew they went under the front fenders and I assumed they were only used on cars with the spare tire wells in the fenders to support the weight of the spare. I replaced my fenders with fiberglass ones. If they need to be there to support the fenders I guess ill have to figure out how they mount.

I don't have them on my 34 coupe...it has thick fiberglass fenders.  The fiberglass fenders on my 33 coupe are thin...so I'm going to laminate some braces into the fenders.
