Cowl vent mods
« on: January 05, 2019, 09:14:06 PM »
Have any of you modified the cowl vent controls ?
Instead of the lever you pull under the dash, how about a cable the pulls it up ?

Im gonna try to avoid it but may have to go this route.
I have PTSD.

Rattiac It should work. I thought of using a choke cable pull myself but I had no room for more knobs. With all the changes I made to cowl/dash, Vintage Air, etc, I couldn't use the original lever. I used what I had laying around, lots of used power window motors  :D

not sure who made one, but I think maybe ????    CAROLINA CUSTOM made an electric one for cowl vents.

It was like a mini power trunk lid opener or whatever they use for those fold away license plate frames .

Maybe 62131 Will chime in  on this discussion....seems like he used an actuator from one of the after market suppliers.... Watson's I believe...                  https://watsons-streetworks.com/product/power-cowl-vent-kit/

I copied that design some what, You can purchase a 12vdc gear motor off EBay with a 6rpm out with plenty of torque to open and close  the cowl vent for a lot less than the from Watsons. You will have to fabricate your own bracket and linkage arm and modify the cowl vent arm a little, I had to move mine to the left to clear my A/C unit. I thought I posted a video on here with it in operation.
