Autel Maxilink Ml329 OBD II Code Reader
« on: September 12, 2018, 07:13:39 AM »
Just received one of these little (tiny) colored monitor scanners and am impressed, they took my best offer for under $30.  I have an OTC Nemisys  but wanted a small scanner for determining if a vehicle is ready for (I/M) plugin inspection (quickly). It turns on immediately when connected and by just hitting the I/M button it lets you know if the vehicle is ready for state inspection with a green light, if tests are pending you get yellow, any DTC codes that fail are noted with a red light.  You can preset the number of "in-completes" allowed by vehicle year. You can leave it plugged in while driving the vehicle and when the drive cycle is complete it beeps and the green light illuminates. It reads/erases codes and has nice code descriptions. Comes with USB cable for updates.

I think I'll check this out.  Check engine light just went on in my daily driver.  Thanks Ed.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

This may have been covered already but I'll do it again just for info.  Most, if not all of us with old street rods also have a "new" vehicle in the driveway that runs on OBDII.  Somewhere in the bottom of the toolbox is a dwell meter gathering dust but, as yet, have not updated the required "newer" tools.  A short list of newer tools includes a code reader, noid light and non-contact thermometer.  Most of us (I think) also have a smart phone even if we don't use it to keep up with trends and play Angry Birds.  There is an app for the phone and tablet (surprise) that will read codes.  Torque app is free or the upgraded for $4.99 will read codes via a bluetooth connection on your ALDL.  It will read codes, erase codes, give live data and display a neat dashboard to name just a few things it will do.  Here is a picture of my tablet with one such dashboard.
