My plan is to add an FITech fuel injection system to my 33 over the winter.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

About 20 years ago I stumbled on a Tuned Port for sale cheap.  Put it on a 50 Chevy I was building and never looked at a crab again.  Even went so far as to build a Megasquirt unit.  So much fuel injection info there it's like drinking out of a fire hose!  Ran an LT1 engine with that unit.  Price for an unassembled unit was $247.  With the LS engines and electronic transmission just buy a harness, let someone else tune the ECU and enjoy.  Can't leave well enough alone and just purchased an Arduino board.  Price of the board is off scale at $19 with free shipping.  Other cheap systems are Raspberry Pi and Speeduino.  Most, if not all of the firmware and software such as HP tuners and C++ are free.  Catch is you have to learn all kinds of new stuff.  Sunday night I wrote my first successful C++ program.

In 2008  fellow Inliner and I put  GM TBI on my 270 GMC six at a picnic at Bonneville Sped Week. We had it running in about 30 minutes. I had done a few things to get ready but not a lot. We used his Megasquirt and it was just demo for the club. I was planning a TBI Tubo 292 build for my '68 flatbed. I assembled a Megasquirt board and was using my '89 GMC to get the MS working. I to so confused when it came to using a laptop to program and tune the thing that I quit. All of that stuff in in a box in my shop somewhere. I'm old with an old vocabulary and all of the little sets of letters that stand for things and processes that are new to me just shut me down. I was amazed with how simple it is to make it work but put off by how difficult it was for me to make it work right. Some of these new kits sound easier.

Been having fun with TPI and LT1 conversions. Made several wiring harness's with the help of online forums. Also have had good luck soldering in EPROM sockets in TPI, LT1 and truck 747 ecm's. I can then flash the proms on my work bench and insert them into the ecms.  Of course this is more for OBD1 applications but it also can be done with OBD2 LT1 pcms.

One of the best forums for tech info is the GearHead EFI Forum noted below. With their help I have also made several data cables using the Arduino boards. With them I can flash ecm's in the car or on the bench.

A group of the guys on the forum are finalizing a freeware program to flash OBD2 pcms that is way over my head. Once operational we'll be able to flash LS (411) pcm's for free with proper communications cable.

Last year I put a Holley Sniper unit on my 32 and love it. So easy to install. Thinking about adding the duel sync distributor

ED, I've sort of fallen down the Arduino rabbit hole but really can't get a functional handle on it.  Do you do any programming on the Arduino?

I installed Fi-Tech on my 30 last year with a Phantom n-tank fuel pump, super easy.  After a 300 plus mile trip, it tuned itself great.

I have had better results with the Sparkfun Arduino boards. Here are a couple of the interfaces I made, all OBD1 but did make one for the 411 PCM (now I need the software ::).  I flash the LT1 ecm's via the Arduino and the TPI eproms via the Flash&Burn.  The one setup is for bench flashing the LT1 ecm's.
