When installing windshield do you use a lubricant on the rubber Read article about using a cord/string to set rubber lip to the out side.....what are you procedures you use to install the windshield????Thanks...

I think the cord/string is more for the cars (ie 57 Chevy) where the rubber overlaps inside the car. On the my 33 Chevy the windshield is loaded from the back ..the rubber is easily pulled over body frame work with plastic spoons etc, then held in place by the garnish.

Ed, we always used a small cotton cord, the same size as the pull start rope on a push mower. We used a rag or small dish sponge, get it wet and work in dish soak, a lot.
Place the glass in the rubber then wipe the sponge around the lip grove, wrap the cord in groove starting at top, overlap cord on bottom and place a piece of masking tape on over lap till you get ready to pull.

Set the glass assy (from the inside) and center and start bottom lip over edge of metal lip. Pull tape off and start pulling cord a little from both sides keeping firm pressure down. As it works around the bottom then up the sides equally as you go with down and out pressure. Then across the top. When in give it a few smacks with the palm of your hand to set good.
 Make sure your ring is off your hand!!!   intstall garnish to keep it held in, don't think those have keeper clips.
You have a very small lip so it should go easy

Silicone spray works as a good lubricant. We've done a few VW windshields with this method.
