fiddy five gasser update
« on: November 20, 2017, 06:51:01 PM »
I have been slowly getting some things done on the new 55 chevy body. repaired the drivers side crushed quarter, installed a new quarter on passenger side because of a real deep body filler problem, starting to radius the wheel wells for the big tires and rims. I also ordered a new nine inch 31 spline bolt in rear axle, with chevy bolt pattern wheel mount. I did sell the old black 55 body and a bunch of parts I wont be using

Looking great Ghost!  Nice work on the wheel wells and rear quarters.

Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Thanks Tom.  put the fat tires on it so I can center the wheel well to the tire.

My ears were burning.  i got a little more done today. i stripped down the front fenders and mocked them up to see if everything will fit. looks good. I think I might get a few nose bleeds with this car.

I set the engine in the 55, I had to move it forward 3/4 inches to clear the drivers side valve cover. I still have a ton of room for all the cooling crap up front. whew.

Ghost, your making serious head way. Looking good man!  The way it sits with the motor out reminds me of a '59 Impala running around Chanute Ks back in the late 60s. Had a tear drop hood scoop and sat that tall cruising Santa Fe Ave. A friend I met when we moved there said a few years back when the river flooded, the '59 was the only car out cruising thru the area ;D

sammons that's a great idea for deep snow. I can put on some monster mudders, open the fenderwell headers to melt the snow as I go. hehe. I modified and rebuilt the stock 55 column, and rebuilding the pedal assembly .
