How much is too much ?
« on: November 06, 2017, 09:16:39 PM »
I like rat rods and the little things ya find that jump out on further inspection but.......this is a bit overboard. Not bagging, could use some toning down.

I'm not into too many non functional things on a car.  Too many on this one for me.  I must be getting old ;)
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Strip it down until it functions to it's greatest potential and is barely legal, then take off three more things.

I'm pretty much a build what you want guy, I don't have to like it or look at it. Some of the "rat" people are more into sculpture than cars. When I was going to Art school that kind of sculpture was called assemblage. It is basically sticking a bunch of stuff together to make one big pile of stuff. This guy succeeded in making a big pile of stuff.

It sure does have a lot of "stuff" on it.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

The back looks a bit spikey ;)  Probably a decent car under there.
I'd much rather have it than this thing that showed up on Craigslist last week. I've known a lot of guys and hot rods out of Enid Okla. but I never seen such a thing like this come out of that area. On an S-10 ext cab frame.  :o

How true and I can see it now , as I would change the channel .  The people who produce these shows figure we want to watch drama...........like hell numb nuts, no we don't.    We pass the IQ test and are not clown show bozos hooked on Springer and Maurey.

Once at the first street rod equipment manufactures show I was watching a monitor in a booth of one of the shows produced by BANYON productions in Memphis.  I said to him why are you playing loud music when the person is talking on screen, I cannot hear him clearly , I turned around and asked the crowd behind me, if they could either, same reply as me, no.

Producer had no answer and started doing the bob and weave as I had him, he started to also do the uuuuuuuuuuuuum, aaaaaaaaaahs , when you have no answer.  Unfortunately this same crap has infected other car shows on TV over the last couple years. Worst case was AMERICAN CHOPPER, where it got to the point of being ridiculous.

Now too many other car shows have started doing it.  Show us how they are doing it, forget the drama .

The gold and bronze spray paint are not working. Tends to make it look cheap.
I had a hard time looking at it compared to the beauty next to it.

That's not quite my taste, but hey, there's room for everybody!
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn
