eBay is beginning to be not fun anymore.
« on: September 20, 2017, 12:37:03 AM »
eBay was fun  to be on 15 years ago, but not now.  They are making so many "improvements", fee increases and sellers rules that is not as much fun to be there.
eBay also thinks all sellers are crooks and all buyer are angels

I joined EBID about 6 years ago, but didn't use it much, but have started to list the parts I make on there.
A lifetime membership is $49.95 and you get ALL of your listings free.  The final % is about 3.  You also have other options besides PayPal for getting paid. Time to try something else.

Couldn't locate the ebid web site, always interested in a better way to buy/sell.  With ebay you pay a listing fee, selling fee and then a paypal payment fee.

FYI: Been a member of ebay since 1998 and have nearly 1200 POS feedbacks, never had a NEG selling or buying. Last year I decided to sell some parts on ebay, at that time eBay still owned paypal.  Ebay held my paypal payment for 30 days because I didn't sell anything during the previous year? They never told me they would hold back my payment until after the items sold, if I would have known this - would not have listed them on ebay. That's how they treat an 18 year member.

I just sold my AMC Concord on ebay. I haven't sold anything on ebay in a couple years and it was a little confusing setting up the ad. And, maybe I wasn't looking close enough or missed something, but an ad I thought was costing me $125.00 ended up costing $184.00!!
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

I only buy there. I still find good deals but not like "the good old days". I sold something once and ended up paying someone to take it with shipping and fees. If I'm going to give stuff away I don't need the hassle.  :)

Had a strange one happen there over the last several weeks.  Bid on a shifter knob, minimum bid was $8 and I put a tops of $10.  I had the winning bid up until 2 seconds and the price went to $8.50 and I lost the knob somehow.  Aw well, only a knob and the shipping would have been $6.38.  About 4 days later I got an e-mail from Ebay saying I had a second chance and if I wanted the knob I could have it for $8!  Yup, took the item, paid with Paypal and waited for the knob.  Several days later I got a small package, was afraid to open it for fear it wasn't as good as it looked in the picture.  Opened the package, out drops a new looking knob AND 3 $1 bills.  Only charged $3.38 shipping.  What happened????

Some people use "sniping" software that hold back their bid until its too late for you to respond. That probably happened first. Then that bidder probably backed out or the seller had more than one knob. Being an honest seller he returned the extra shipping in cash because he probably didn't want to mess with a PayPal refund. It is fun to be watching an item and see two snipers go at it in the last few seconds of an auction.
