Eclipse
« on: August 18, 2017, 10:12:54 AM »
Darn, I'm in a prime location for Monday's eclipse and I have no glasses.  Waited too late and now can't find anywhere that I can get on time.

Bummer... :-[

NO!  Maybe if they are dark enough but it's not worth trying. There are several things on line about indirect viewing. Basically it is as simple as punching a hole in a piece of paper and turning your back to the sun. Hold the paper so the sun shines through the hole and projects on  something. You will see the eclipse. We did this with our sons once and when we were done our younger pointed out that the old nail holes in the recycled tin on our porch roof were doing the same thing, lots of them. :)

Well the good news is that it will be on TV if they can break away from the constant Trump bashing for a hour or so ;D

Welding goggles are OK with shade 12 or higher:

I live 60 miles from Hopkinsville Ky. the closest point to the eclipse which will have 2.40 minutes of totality, that town will be  a total mess. They are closing all the factories, businesses  and the farmers are renting out 20'x40' spaces in their pastures  for campers to set up .

Same here, paper today said that Charleston is expecting as many as 2 million visitors.  Ouch, better stay home..,.

My buddy was up in Salina ks this weekend for his daughters birthday, said even there the motels were full.

Well I have my blue jogging suit and tennis on and the cool-aid is mixed. ;D   About 10mins to go here.

Only got dusky dim here. Partly cloudy so I just looked up quick.
12:59 and clouds cleared just as i took 2nd pic.
