Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about folks from Texas

If someone in a Lowe's store offers you assistance and they don't work
there, you may live in Texas ;

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Texas ;

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Texas ;

If 'Vacation' means going anywhere south of Dallas for the weekend, you may live in Texas ;

If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Texas ;

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Texas ;

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both
unlocked, you may live in Texas ;

If you carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Texas

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph --you're going 80 and
everybody's passing you, you may live in Texas ;

If you find 60 degrees 'a little chilly,' you may live in Texas ;

If you actually understand these jokes, and share them with all your Texas
friends, you definitely live in Texas .

My dad graduated from Happy High School in Happy, Texas. Dalhart  is closer to the capitols of 6 other states than it is to Austin. A 7th state capitol is only about 20 miles farther. A few years ago while studying some family history I found a town on a map I'd never heard of "Quitaque".What the heck? Why had I never heard of it? Then it dawned on me, it's Texas stupid. it's Kitty Quay! :o

sixball..that reminds me that years when I first moved to this area which has a heavy French influence and culture.  I needed a set of commercial truck mud flaps and the locals directed me to "Charlie Boys". I spent some time in the phone book looking for the Charlie Boys phone number with no luck so I just drove down to the store location. The business name is actually Charlebois (shar-bwaw).

Working both borders in the Border Patrol I learned that generations of Mexicans that immigrate to the US maintain their Spanish language. In this area the French language from Quebec immigrants is not maintained on this side so much...but both sides still love their Montreal Canadiens (Canada) Montreal Canadians (US) ;)

Ah Texas. I don,t now if it's taller than wide...but it's a long ways down. We use to take family vacations to Brownsville when I was in my early teens. Dad only gave me a weeks vacation from the shop, so in '83 it was a toss up to go see little brother in Morro Bay Ca or mom in Harlingen Tx. I thought Harlingen was half the distance. ::) So me and my buddy hopped in my recently bought '69 Vette. 14.5 hrs later we were almost deaf from that screaming motor, pretty much tached 3500rpm(sounded like 6000 ;D) all the way there as it was a 3.73 rear gear and factory side pipes. I guess I made the right choise, spent a lot of time down at the politicly incorrect "Confederate Air Force" base looking at WW2 planes ;)  Needless to say, I have never seen such pure white pipes on a car as when I got home. Took the side pipes off and got a regular exhaust but a week later! :)

you will find 2 things.............

#1.......you can drop texas into the province of Ontario and lose it. Google land mass for both or square mileage

#2.......if you come 175 miles west of where you are to Toronto Ont , you will not find any love for Les Canadiens.

I might use the word hate would be more appropriate.  Just Howard Coselling it......telling it like it is .

mike............. :P

Alaska is about 2 1/2 times as big as Texas too,but like Ontario they never claimed to have more ice and snow than anyone. ::)
Steinbeck said Texas is a state of mind.
