date to engine cubic inch
« on: March 28, 2017, 09:17:24 AM »
I was looking over at the hamb, and they had a post requesting since it was 3/27 they were requesting pictures of 327 cubic inch engines
So why not keep an eye out for that certain date to show any engines you might think cool that you have seen or built.

Remind me next time 1/53, 1/81 or 2/70 come around. ::)

Here you go for today, one of my favorite BBC. The 1970 "402", pretty much a trouble free good power motor!

My old buddy John the machinist bought a 70 SS Elcamino (very low mile) 402, Muncie 4spd, 3:73 rear. He bought it and was going to sell his 68 SS hi-perf 396. He liked his old 375 horse 396 better, as well as the TH400 that he had put in and the brakes too. So he swapped it all out and sold the 68 to dad. I had a blast with that 402. The 70 was still a screamer and eventually sold it to a buddy of mine senior year of high school and we ran it alot at the Great Bend drag strip running in the low to mid 14's.

How many remember the GM 403 or in the case of the month and day 4/03. The 403 was made from 1977 to 1979 and used across the Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Cadillac vehicle lines.....Look it up
Too soon we get old too late we get smart. One out of two ain’t bad 8)

There were a lot of 403's around here. I thought they were underated on performance, great motors untill you got one hot. My brother had a 403 in his '79 T/A that was an absolute beast. Seen him shut down 455 T/As  and all Z/28s of similar vintage. My girl friend had a 403 in her Formula that was a real dog. My uncle told me (GM mechanic) that the T/A motors had a different cam and something else? That was why, when most replaced with one out of an Olds (say 88 sedan) they never had the power it had before.
