Dang, missed it by 45mins.  ???  I overslept this morn, I can only feel them if I am sitting in the garage. I'll have to ask around when I get out.  I live 100 yrds from the RR tracks and used to have a trailer house here. I pretty much got use to the shake. Several times while visiting my brother in Cali, he would ask what did I think of the earth quake last night. I didn't feel them either.

Did you Ed?  Any takers on the house yet?

Ed, talk about an earth quake.....the dirt work across the street! My friend next door was talking about the big Cat vibrating sheepsfoot compactor was shaking his house and the sheetrock was starting to crack. I didn't feel anything till yesterday when they moved more toward the street. This morn at 7:30 was a rude awakining, bedroom shook and the headboard rattled against the wall. :o  and an hour ago a pic fell off the wall in the garage. At least no cracks in mine, but i'm not directly across the street.

Steve...I wonder if the contractor would be responsible for any damages incurred during this phase of construction. For sure some one has brought this to his attention..any way  sounds like there will be a lot of  action around your area

A couple of years ago the city had to fix a broken storm drain line on my property that was about 40 feet down.  There was some heavy equipment involved that shook the neighborhood.  Before it all began they inspected the neighbors houses and again after they were done.  They were responsible for any damage done during the repairs.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

Ed, you would think so. I believe the problem will be with proving the cracks were not pre-existing. Now in Tom's case, the city inspected the homes prior and after.

I found a case on the net yesterday. There was a lady in Lakeville, Mn. that had a house damaged in 2014. The city was not liable as they hired out the work. The contractor claims prior damage to the older built home (1972). The home owners insurance wouldn't pay either. Case sounds still unsettled. Crappy deal! >:(

Start taking pictures TODAY. Start recording the noise and start and stop times. Get your neighbors to do the same. No one else will look out for you. Make sure your pictures have dates. If your camera won't do that mail them to yourself and eave the envelope sealed until you need them and open it in front of your attorney.

Great idea Sixball. I told my neighbor, but they finished with the compactor about 7:00pm thursday night. Hope he didn't have too much damage.  I've used the mail thing before when I needed a date verification when a notary was needed. A guy I know had a traffic court date that fell on a holiday. He and his attorney meet at the front door of the court house steps, the attorney grabbed a morning news paper and had him hold it up with the sign "closed for the holiday" showing in the background and took a picture. Case was dissmised. ;)

Take pictures of your foundation, concrete floors and walls.  A walk through video would work...
