Have some parts for sale and began communicating with a guy near Watertown, NY that is building a 34 Ford pickup with Chevy 250 straight six. Attached his description and some engine pics.

I have been building an old 34 Ford pickup, not really a rat rod, but not a show truck.  Homemade frame, drilled drop axle, radius rods front and rear, Chevy 250 with a lot of work, a Borg Warner T-5 from an 86 Camaro  V-8 car,  with a Ford 9" disc rear.

Engine is a 1968 250 from a pickup, using a Mercruiser cylinder head that went to 12 Bolt Tom,  decked the block .015 shaved the head .030  lump ported it, went with the 1.94 valve setup, 3 angle valve job, street porting 489 lift cam, roller rockers, custom pistons .040 over, crank is .010 on rods and mains,  Offenhauser 3x1 intake with 3 glass bowl Holley carbs and Tom Langdon cast iron headers. I am hoping to fire it within a month. Then I can set the cab where it need to go and hopefully have it moving on it's own by end of summer, finish off all the little details over next winter.  From what Tom Lowe tells me, with the parts I am using I should not have any issues getting 275 to 300 horse from the motor.  I'd love to strap it to a dyno and see what it will do.   

As I said, I do have a 1963 Chevy 250 and two old 235's,  one is a 53 the other I believe is a 50.

That thing will be a handful. I know Tom Lowe. He built the head for my 153 four banger and supplied the pistons. His pistons are forged Ross built to his specs. He has done extensive dyno tests on his engines and knows what they put out. He says my 4 will put out form 175 to 200 depending on how well I do my part. It is good to see guys doing builds with a different mix of components. Everything that is not a billet clad, pastel painted, named after a 50s tune, polished cast spoke wheeled, trailer queen is not a rat rod.  There's a lot of space between them, maybe ahead of them.

Always liked the straight six..when I was 14-15 did a complete rebuild on one (1957 235) by myself. The only problem was that rope rear seal..it was REAL TIGHT...but it did start and ran great.  I'm sure there is a one piece rubber seal kit for them now?

Also remember that the rocker arm oil galley of those engines liked to plug up, that's when we tapped into the side of the block and routed an overhead oiler through the valve cover.

You've got a cool truck and a cooler wife if that is what she wants to drive. I'm not opposed to eight cylinders as long as they are not opposed to themselves.

  Thank you Ed  I just got off the phone with John and we are stopping by his place after our visit to Platsburg and Saranack Lake New York.Have lots of ideas for this 6 banger by the way the first thing to go has to be the head.Will need an open head with separate intake and exhaust. thanks  again  vette59jdwl
