frame help on stock frames
« on: February 05, 2016, 05:09:10 PM »
currently looking for another frame as i found some work id rather not repair.

after realizing my body is not a 1931 like others have stated and its indeed a 1928.

Are the frames that different between the 1928 and 1932's, and other then length is it still possible to use the later? how about truck frame's?

the frame will be boxed and zee'd running a drop axle up front and a newer rear with ladder bars and air ride all around.

Im sorry if this is a repetitive question but after looking over this forum and 3 others i wasnt able to find what i was looking for thru searching

Voided, I think it would probably fit under yours as long as you don't care if correct year. I think my frame was a '28-9 that I reworked thats under my '35 coupe.  I'm no expert on what years are compatible, but other than the crossmember differances i believe they should be 107" wheel base along that era. I think that the pick-ups didn't have the "A" style tapper to them like the car and went more straight/parralel on the rear from what i have run across.

This 1st pic was my friends around that era, 107" wb
Other pics are what i started with, also 107" but different. I don't know what years they actually were.  Maybe 62131 or Moose may know what to look for.

When building a hot rod there are no set in stone rules. I used 30 frame sections on a 32 frame for boxing it. The big difference in chevy frames is the 27 and older they are a lot smaller in height. Not sure about 33, but 32 on down  to 28 should be good to go.
