When people ask me what I have I want to be correct

Duke

Duke , just tell them you have a 1934 Chevrolet master series, if you try to explain whats happened, you will only confuse them, simpler answer the better.

Its a good looking car and love the dash and sterio system upgrade with the consul. If your not running flowmaster 40's the subwoofer thump will let them know your coming.

Ok. that sheds some light now. I see that the window frames are all removable as mine is not. Thanks for clearing this up for me.
As far as my vin goes, the guy I bought it from told me that the original owner never did have a title since he got the car out of some field in W. VA. I have not confirmed this with the original owner, which I will tomorrow.

It has an issued vin plate which made me think it was a kit car but I was assured it was not and that it was an original all steel 34 Master. This is something else I want to verify if possible without asking the original owner if possible.

Here is an image of the plate.

yup, thats a replacement firewall id plate that's been made up with new numbers.

Nothing on there tells me whether the car was a 3 window or 5 window originally.  That can be determined by the length of the door.  If someboy on here has a 3 or 5 window and can measure their door, bingo theres your answer.

I found a picture of a 1934 Chevrolet **fisher body tag** for a 1934 Chevrolet Cabriolet/convertible.  This is what should have been on your car but went missing with the model designation for 3 window or 5 window

Here ya go Mike, my '35 Std 3-window is 38 3/4" at the bottom of the belt line(also same distance as 2dr sedan, just measured it for kicks).  Mike when i first got my '34 5-w master, i wanted to convert it to a 3-w. Was at a carshow talking to an old Chevy man, he told me very few 3-w masters built and they used the same door as the standard. His buddy said no, they were 2" longer on the master. Then a third guy piped in and said they never made a 34 3-w master or a 34-35 5-w standard!  Needless to say i left very confused. :-\  The first guy also said 2dr sedan length same as 3w coupe and 5w master was same length as 4dr sedan frt door, just to add to my confusion. ;D

I use to have the door length on the '34 Master 5-W, can't find it. If i remember it was like 6" or so shorter.  Should be really noticable on qtr panel.

yup very obvious that the 5 window quarter panel from door post to fender well molding is very long.

The 3 window in same area is very short as shown.

Now that I look at Sammons pics. Mine looks like the one in primer. The rear quarter at the bottom looks to be the same size as mine.
So have a modified 5 window. I like the idea of having a removable top but would have liked a hardtop much better. Getting the windows adjusted to seal to my top was a chore in itself and I still need to adjust both of them again after I get more glass made.
I just installed new glass but they rounded the top front corner and it does not seal.

SAMMONS was out of country, ( florida ) for a while and missd this post.

Boy you really ran into some people who were confused with their information.

5 window coupes were only made in 1933 master 19334 master
3 window coupes were made in 1933 master and 1934 master

3 window coupes in the STANDARD series were made in 1933, 1934, 1935

Cabriolet convertibles were made in 1933 master and 1934 master.

Roadsters were made in 1933 master and 1934 master
phaeton touring cars were made in 1933 master and 1934 master

roadsters were made in 1934 Chevrolet **standard** series and 1935 Chevrolet standard series
phaeton tourings were made in *standard * series 1934 and 1935.

HOLDEN Australia GM made *standard* series for 1933 in roadsters and phaetons that GM north America did not.

Also a very interesting Australia GM HOLDEN only , is the ROADSTER PICKUP or more commonly called the UTE.  Really neat car truck, like an early el camino .

Be aware if ever considering purchasing a 33--35 GM HOLDEN built car, they are different in the main body.
