Need Help with Identifying Automobile
« on: December 21, 2015, 01:22:00 PM »
I'm looking for some help in identifying an early model vehicle that my deceased dad owned.  The enclosed attachment contains the only two pics we have been able to locate.  The top pic was taken in 1952, the bottom pic which barely shows the vehicle's front end was taken in September of 1955. (Yes, that's me at 10 months)  Any help in identifying the make/model of this vehicle would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the back reminds me of about a '40 Studebaker. Post it here and someone will tell you all about it.

I think you have two cars here the one with you is a 1950 Olds. The the one with the little girl is a 1948 ford coupe.

I agree the one with the baby is a '49-'51 Olds. The other I think is a '41 Ford because of the bumper. The bumper and tail lights are not '42-'48 Ford. The lights don't really look like '41 either but that may be the photo. They seem to have a round reflector under the rectangular lens. Could it be a custom with '51-'52 Chevy tail lights? The tail lights are what bothered me at first.

Aren't the Merc lights horizontal?

OK,I'll go with '41 though the tail lights don't look quite right. The ones in the picture seem to have a round reflector below the lens but it is probably just the picture. It is pretty amazing how big you can blow that thing up.

I took a closer look at the picture of the car with the baby through a  lense I have, and it appears to have grille teeth. So now I think it's 53 desoto???????
