34 Master Help on how to attach hood sides.
« on: November 16, 2015, 11:05:11 PM »
I just bought a 3 Piece Hood Set from Rootlieb. I also bought the Carolina Custom Side Mount Hinge and Latch Kit and Carolina Custom Aluminum Hood Braces.
I will have to modify the front edge of the hood to match the contour of the top edge of the Radiator/Grill Shell

Where I need help is on the lower side panels. I want to attach them in a way that you cannot see the hardware from the outside. I thought of welding some studs to the panels and putting some brackets for the studs to go through and use nuts to secure them on all 4 corners of each panel.

Anyone with other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Duke

This might help you.  62131 is mounting his hood sides separately from the top part of the hood.

What I did on an old coupe. I welded two bolts to the bottom edge of the hood side and sharpened them to a dull point and drilled two holes in to the top edge of the frame for them to sit in, then I did put hidden bolts on the top side interior edge and bolted them through some L brackets I made.

Thanks for the replies. It seems I jumped the gun in asking about this because the owner of Carolina Custom told me the hinge kit I am buying from his has everything I need to attach the sides. The hood sides apparently have pins on the inside bottom and set into a slot in the brackets that come with the kit. At least that's how I understood him to say it.

Thanks again.
