1927 Chevy Capitol 2 door coupe
« on: August 03, 2015, 10:04:10 AM »
I recently purchased this 1927 Chevy Capitol 2 door coupe from a couple who has had it stored for 15 + years.  It has the original 171 cubic inch 4 cylinder, 3 speed manual and 6 volt system.  I have started working on her a little bit and have it running and drove it down to the cud le sac last weekend.  I reparied the radiator, cleaned the fuel tank, rebuilt the gas gauge, replaced the battery and cables, cleaned a bunch of things and rebuilt the Stewart vacuum fuel feed system and next is the Carter RX-O carb and to put new plug wires on.  I am hoping this will get me to a point where I can drive the car and continue to work on her.  I wonder where I can find a good source to have her appraised.

I don't have an answer to your question but that thing is a beauty. I is really nice to see them as they were and also to find someone with a in tact ego who drives one. 8)

That's a really clean looking car.  Have you run it on the N.A.D.A Classic car value estimator. It will at least give you a ballpark idea of its worth. Here's a link....

I used the NADA estimator and I am comfortable with what I paid for the car and what I have it insured for so that is a win win.

Original MSRP $625
Low Retail  $6,825
Average Reatail   $11,800
High Reatail  $19,100

It's not about the value, it's about protecting my piece of history.

Kyburbn    Welcome to the Rusty Bowtie, I see that you are just up the road about 45 min.   I was there last week end at the Cruse N Heartland my I will see you and your car there next year. I think you found a gem.

Kyburbn, Great looking old Chevy you got there.  Welcome to the Rusty Bowtie.
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!

That's a really nice survivor. My 27 parts were trying to fall off the body and trailor on the way home.

Thanks everyone, I have been looking at different forums to share information and hopefully learn some things too.  The carb rebuilt parts came in last night so wish me luck.............I haven't rebuilt a carb in years and never rebuilt a 1927 Carter 1 barrel RX-O.

I have been in contact with Gary Wallace and Marx parts.  It is strange how unique a 1927 Chevy is compared to a 26 or a 28.  Thanks for the info guys!
