We agree mad mike airflow is key. But what we are discussing here is the placement of the condenser.I say under the body of the car with a blow through fan.The next question is. Is it feasable to mount the condenser say one inch off of the back of the radiator.?vette59jdwl
Just making the point that having air con is not necessary if you have air flow thru the interior of the car. Plus the car is sealed to restrict hot air entering inside thru firewall or the the floor.
Let me say this about condenser placement...........does not matter if mounted to the front the preferred location , possibly the rear also but have never seen it done. Your fan must be able to strongly draw airflow thru both the condenser and the radiator. The condenser is adding heat to the radiator core as the air passes thru the condenser. So whatever you run, its got to draw airflow big time .
Personally I would talk to the TECH GUYS at vintage air about placement of the condenser other than the stock location. Then hopefully the original starter of the thread will post back what he has been advised as to placement areas for maximum efficiency. Solves that problem, take it too the experts.
