I need some help trouble shooting a problem with my mig. It's a Snap-on YA212A Industrial unit.

When ever I let off the trigger, the wire runs on about an inch. It's really a pain in the ass and wearing on my patients.   Everything is welding correct, heat range fine, wire speed fine. The Snap-on guy doesn't know, their tech guy Say's send it in and they will find it.  That's not going to happen, at least not now. That might end up costing more than I could by another for.

I didn't know if any of you fellas had run on to this before.  Any ideas even would be appreciated.   Thanks

Did some searching on the Internet...one problem was the liner being broke or cracked...the wire is being forced through the liner and catching on the cracked area...and when you stop welding the wire springs out from the tension it's under from the feed roller.

The guys said feed some wire through and look for scrape marks on the wire...an indication of a bad liner.

Another guy mentioned that if you have too much tension on the feed rollers...the wire may buckle as it is being fed into the liner and when you stop welding..it springs out?

Almost forgot...try using a larger tip like a 035 tip with 030 wire.

Thanks Ed. I was having this trouble before I took it home, and replaced the linner when I got it home, no change. I have a .035 tip on it, and I am running .030 wire. Yesterday I cranked down on the roller, no change.  Tomorrow i'll try backing it off.  When i'm running .025 wire, I've always left the roller fairly loose because if I stick at the tip it won't ball up at the rollers.

Hope backing it off works, somewhat doubtful though.  Thanks Ed, i'll post changes tomorrow.

seems like the trigger is sticking slightly after releasing even though the levers out.or a board issue which is usually what seems to fail on welders.would be nice to be able to switch out a gun assembly to see if that was it

I wonder if pulling the power plug in the middle of a wire run would narrow it down to a sticking feed switch vs. sticking wire?

I hadn't thought of that. I think when I let off the trigger the arc stops ? I'll check that tomorrow also. When it warms up a bit i'll go down to the shop and steal my friend Tom's assy and see if that's it. Luckily we both bought the same units a month apart.
