Title: Free is nice
Post by: ghost28 on July 21, 2013, 11:07:23 AM
A good friend the other day was cleaning up his custom shop, and ran across this 10 bolt rear axle out of an old vega race car. It has the longer studs installed, lakewood ladder bars bolted then welded in place. Well when I got it home and opened it up it was a gm posi and had a set of richmond 411 gears in it, I believe 8.2 gears. It is 58 inches wheel mount to wheel mount perfect for an old hotrod, best of all he just gave it to me says it was in his way. What a guy...John

Yeah go ahead..rub it in..that's the axle I'm looking for in the parts wanted section! ;D

I have a 60" WMS/WMS 7.5" (Nova 26 spline ?)...but my son wants an 8.5"...I'm sure there's one within 50 miles of here.

I saw your add in the parts wanted area Ed, but I figured it would be a huge expense to ship it to ya. Yeah Moose I will keep in touch with him for more stuff. I feel that in a little while he will come to me with a needed favor kinda like the godfather, and I will not be able to say no. UHOH.

Was only kidding...those ladder bars would be a obstacle for our project anyway...but just might come in handy for the right project - no sense removing them.

It will fit, just fold it in half.

Just picked up another S10 8.5" rear axle. It's a disc axle with a wheel mounting surface distance of 54.25"...it may be too narrow for my son's 37 sedan because of the leaf spring spacing...the 60" Nova axle we have is drum and would fit better..but it'snot a 8.5".

Getting there!
