Title: 1929 coach door size?
Post by: Chevyv8-348 on May 12, 2013, 02:40:09 PM
Been trying to figure out my game plan on putting my 29 chevy 4dr puzzle into a car again.  I've been thinking about turning it into a 2dr sedan delivery and wondering how long a coach door is compared to my 4dr door.  When I got the car years ago it was missing the passenger front door but had what looked like a 29 coach door and another 4dr. door from maybe a 30.  The body line below the windows all have the same profile but the front edge of the 30 door and both 29 doors are all different top of the door to the bottom.  Then I see another possible 30 coach drivers door at a wrecking yard and it's a inch shorter in width at the body line than the 29 passenger coach door I have.  Besides the door opening limits changing and the raised bead around the 29 window I thought 29 and 30 doors would interchange?  Is it possible the door on the coach was longer on the passenger side to make it easier for passengers to get in and out of the back seat?  Not sure why the 29 coach door is shorter at the front door post by half inch compared to my 29 sedan door.  I thought they'd be the same at the front edge.  Anybody confused yet?  I sure am.

That's a tough question. There is a guy named Skip Geear ..aka Junkyard Dog who is the technical adviser for VCCA (Vintage Chevrolet Club of America) for 29-32 Chevys  . If anyone would know the answer or could help you find someone who does it would be him. The last I knew his email address was jyd@ccountry.net. I'm not sure the address is still good but it might me worth a try. I think he would be happy to help.
