So,.......... A 75 year old who has been safely using gas cans of all types and sizes for at least 65 years and has never had one catch fire will have to purchase new gas cans that will be even more of a pain in the ass to use than the last batch that were approved because a dumb ass 19 year old ignited himself while pouring gas from a can on a bonfire? More dumb asses should be allowed to remove themselves from the gene pool! Makes me wish his mother had been standing closer to her dumb darling. Her patenting skills are sorely lacking.  >:(  ;D

I just went back and read that again, I don't know why.  :o
First there was this. ". During the past several decades, more than 80 lawsuits filed on behalf of plaintiffs...." So this is such a serious problem that only 80 plaintiffs have been able to find a lawyer to take up their claims "in the past several decades". In a country of over 300,000,000 known residents 80 is a pretty small group.  ::) Compare that to how many people fueled a stalled car, filled their lawn mower, line trimmer, dirt bike, ATV, generator, boat, tractor, chainsaw,.... safely and in many cases by fueling these things were able to avert some pending danger or disaster. It's like the 2,000,000 times a year guns are used by armed citizens  to stop crimes.

Then there is the insight into how this stupidity becomes law stuffed into a multi thousand page bill that NO ONE has read then turned over to a bunch of unelected bureaucrats in the swamp to work out the details. Very few of the "rules and regulations" we must follow every day were voted on by our elected representatives. They are too busy and have abdicated their authority to the swamp rats. This protects them from being accountable for the crap that becomes law.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  ;D
