Title: Head light Lens Gasket
Post by: Senior31 on June 28, 2019, 09:28:43 AM
I am in the process of rebuilding an original set of head lights for my 35 Standard.  I was told the lights are from a 34 truck, but not certain.  Either way, I need to replace the cork gasket between the lens and reflector.  I&I has them, but I have a hard time paying $10 for something and then $12 in shipping.  Therefore, do the Ford lens gasket work?  I would prefer to have a rubber gasket, but have not been able to fine one.  I made a rubber gasket, but having an issue with fitment and it is causing grounding issues with the turn signal.  I am hoping to pickup a gasket at the Goodguys Columbus show in a couple weekends, but none of our Chevy suppliers are there.  Ford guys are everywhere.  If anyone could let me know on the Ford gaskets or another recommendation I would appreciate it.  Thanks!

Could you cut strips and glue the ends together with something like these:

there was a seller offering repo reflectors for trucks on ebay and also the lens gaskets  but just checked he is not offering anything at the moment.   I cannot  ????????????? remember his name .

The conversation I once had with I & I re shipping by USPS , is they have to have vehicle to take the item to P O,   and also pay somebody to stand in line to mail the packages.  A lot of sellers operate out of garages and UPS or FED-x come there and pick it up.   I bought a jag rear pinion flange for u joint from Australia...........$10 cost  , shipping was $45.

I bought a real nice fender on ebay lf for 34-35 std item was $550,   shipping cross country by transport truck $650 as would not fit UPS or fed x specs or greyhound bus.

Now the lastest since june 1 is STATE SALES TAX collected by ebay for every state where an item is shipped too that has demanded it.   Case in point NY state about 10% I think   ,  where I currently have 47 packages awaiting for me to pick them up Wednesday
