Title: Replacing 1967 GMC 305 V6 with (80s )350 Chev. engine
Post by: ophart on March 03, 2018, 01:21:59 AM
I believe the 350  will bolt up replacing the V6 with no problems other than using the plate from the GMC pressure plate and bolting it to the 350 pressure plate to bolt up to converter.

In 1975 I put a 67 Chev 283 in a 65 GM (V6) carryall which fit except the above mentioned.

Anyone aware of a potential problem with the couple of years newer.

I want to use the GMC 3 speed automatic if possible and don't know of any potential problems.

Thanks,

Ophart

The flex plate from a two piece rear main seal engine (pre-86) won't bolt up to a later one piece rear main seal engine. So if you are using an early to mid's 80's V8 no problem. If not, just get a later model flex plate.  Some of the later V8 blocks aren't cast for a mechanical fuel pump.  Use the correct water pump..the serpentine engines use reverse flow pumps.
