Title: TBI tuning option.

Neat idea for anyone wanting to increase performance on a TBI engine.

Who does the tuning?

Probably the easiest method is to datalog with TunerPro RT, then flash a EPROM for the ECM.  I have had luck de-soldering the 1227747 ECM PROM and soldering in a zif socket.

In my trucks case I chose to remove the TBI setup and install a TPI setup then use the TPI ECM.  Here is a pic of the conversion I put in my 1994 Chevy truck.  A lot more torque than the TBI setup.

My first fuel injection sway was a TPI and I've always had a soft spot for them.  It just begs to be retrofitted with a Megasquirt unit.  Built a MS several years ago.  Get to learn lots about electronics and fuel injection in general.  Haven't done much with the TunerPro.

It's kinda fun...but it takes me a while to relearn stuff I did a couple months ago :o

I use TunerPro Rt to read, tune and re-flash the 16188051 PCM's for LT1 engines.  You'll need Moats Flash & Burn to flash the EPROMs in the TBI engines.

Have used this free tuning site with real good luck for the LT1 stuff:

^^^  I'm running a '90 Pontiac McLaren grand prix turbo with 727 ecm ... prom removed and replaced with re- burnable chip.. car makes around 450-475 hp on a  little aluminum chevy  3.1 engine ... i have been modding that car for almost a decade now .
anyways,  yes there is plenty of stuff you can do with obd1 , the bins are out there .
