Title: 1928 chevy roadster dimensions
Post by: chevygarage on June 02, 2017, 10:13:22 PM
i everybody, i'm new to the site. my kid just picked up a 1928 chevy roadster, it's a little rough but still doable. they have the doors and the trunk tack welded on and there is no floor. the question that i have is could someone give me measurements at certain areas that i am concerned about.
1-the top inside trunk
2-the bottom inside trunk
the reason for these is because we do not have any metal between the two quarter panels.
3-from the top rear of the driver door to the top rear of the passenger door
4-from the bottom rear of the driver door to the bottom rear of the passenger door
the reason for these is that we have no floor and we have no wood framing.
if i could get these measurements then i think everything else will fall into place or come very close, we ordered square tubing to make a metal skeleton frame but we are still missing those dimensions, it's either someone here can help or we have to wait for a car show. we would really appreciate any info that you could give us.
i'm writing this a little late, i will tell you all a little about me and my son another day. thank you, jeff, drew.

Welcome to the forum.  It's been kinda slow around here this past week, but I'm sure the guys will be back on soon. I know there are several 27-28 roadster owners on here and I thought one recent post about some measurements.

I found this '28 Chevy spec site this morn. Looks like body specs start at page 82. There were dimensions in there, but your specific ones/needs?  Members 28Chevyguy/Chevron come to mind, they should be around.

Don't know why link won't work? I guess stupid is my excuse ;D

Link fixed 6-11-17
I found under 1928 Chevrolet Specifications- online Chevy Manuals   hope that may help!

Jeff  Welcome to the forum. Look forward to your build. I can probably help with the dimensions,  but it won't be until later this week when I go to the shop. The reason I say probably, I'm not sure I have all the wood and  I would have to assemble  it which isn't a big deal. Be happy to do it. Ron

thanks sammons, that's a great site with a lot of info and i did come across that same info on page 82.
that would be great if you could get the measurements we need, there is no rush. just knowing that we can get that info is a big relief for us. thank you chevron. again it's late, i'll try to write more on sunday and get some pics in plus do my profile.
i am really glad i found this site, thanks again. jeff, drew.

WE are glad you found it too! Another Chevy roadster build to look forward to. I'm trying to build a '26 but it's slow going.

Jeff I'm sorry I am not going to make it to the shop this week, next week for sure. We've had some heavy rain here in the mountains and I have some issues I need to take care of. Hope you can wait or maybe someone else can help. Ron
