So my buddy has been telling me about his Moon car for the last two years, but it's been sitting on the other side of the Island.
I think it's a 1920, but can't remember.
I keep telling him to go get it, and even tried helping him organise transport, but he's Dutch, and does things his way.
He has restored an old BSA motorcycle, and Thornycroft bus over the years, but has a wee alcohol problem, which gets in the way of his genius.
So I called in to visit a few weeks back, but he wasn't home. In his porch, was the Moon, or what he's got of it anyway. I took some pics, and caught up with his best mate, a week later.
Turns out my buddy had been caught drunk driving, and got himself locked up.
Untill he gets outer jail, I won't be able to give anymore details, but here's some pics.

That's cool. Never heard of a Moon car other that the one the astronauts drove :o

Most people haven't heard of em Tom.
I'm pretty sure I hadn't, untill my buddy told me he had one.
I googled it after he told me, and showed him the pics. He had not seen a complete one either.

That looks like a Half Moon. ::) There were maybe hundreds of car makes in the early days. Most of them made very few cars before going out of business or being rolled into another company. I think I saw a lost in Hemmings.

when I was THE GASKET KING operating in Hemmings motor news 1979--1991, I specialized in cylinder head gaskets 1909 to 1947.
I had a call one evening from a man in St Louis MO inquiring about cylinder head gaskets for Moon cars and a truck. Apparently he was the grandson of the founder of Moon and had inherited a collection of vehicles. I sold him gaskets for each of his cars and the one truck to keep them all running.
I had purchased the complete old inventory and the sample room of every cylinder head gasket ever made that Fitzgerald gasket company of Torrington Conn ?? produced up to 47 . They were the largest producer in 1930.

John, I have no idea if it was a soft top, I'm pretty sure that what's in the pics, is all he has of it.

Mike, That is interesting. I had an old friend here that was in the NOS parts business. He had warehouses of parts in California that he wanted to move to Nevada but died before he could do it. I don't know what happened to the parts.

All those parts are probably still sitting there in the buildings.
If you watch AMERICAN PICKERS on Discovery channel its amazing what some people have sitting in buildings.
Plus they get into motorcycle stuff.............so does dale walkaluk of whats behind the barn door.

So my buddy's out, and tells me it's a 1920.
The engine turns over, so he's going to get it running, and tidy it up, maybe go for a Speedster look, with a small pickup deck.
