Title: Returning to the past
Post by: ghost28 on May 23, 2016, 08:17:43 PM
With everything in color I thought I would start a thread of just black and white car photos. They can be old photos or some new still shots of your favorite ride. Let's have some fun with it. :)
The first photo is through the rear window of my shop at night.

All good shots. A  black and white photo will let your imagination run wild thinking about the story behind it. Sammons. Nice old photos

Here's some of my Dad's cars. Pic #1 is his 55 Chevy Nomad, it was his first new car.  Pic #2 was him backing his boat into Lake Massabesic in Auburn NH.  We used to go out for a boat ride and a picnic on an island every Sunday.  The third pic is his 49 Chevy Fleetline, that's him it it.  The fourth is his 56 Pontiac Starchief convertible.  That's me in the middle with my brother to my left when my Dad was stationed in Fort Bragg, NC back in 1962.  That was one of his favorite cars.

Some cool old rides Sammons!  Here's my Dad's 63 Chevy II SS convertible backing his boat in at the same ramp, different boat.  This is the one I remember going out in as a young kid.  We'd go out on the lake on Sundays, meet up with some of his friends and make a day of it.  The flag he had on the front was called a "Battle Ax" flag meaning the wife was on board!  Great memories :)

Those are some great old pictures. Here is one of my dads cars. I remember horsing around in the back seat with my two brothers, and my dad from the drivers seat trying to swat us. We called it the duck and dodge trying to stay away from his big hand, my dad wasn't impressed and pulled over more than once.

Don't know if I mentioned this but I used http://www.cartoonize.net/ to convert one of my car pictures into a cartoon to hide the rough body work, see attached original and the cartoon version.

Very cool pictures, some make me a little sad thinking of a simpler time........
Nice, Ed, here's mine. I should have tried in black and white, though.

Could print them out and let the little ones color them?

I use Irfanview.  You can crop, and change to black & white (grayscale) and lots of other effects.

Not a photo but a rendering I did a while back of my 32 in color but I figured I'd do a b/w for the occasion

I use Roxio to play with pictures on my computer. Here is a cartoon and a pencil sketch version of my 28 chevy sedan delivery.

That is crazy. So I got my degree in fine arts and all I needed was a laptop. How many of what I thought were nice drawings were just computer tricks? Oh well, I was never that good anyway. :(
