Title: weatherstrip glue
Post by: chopper526 on July 28, 2015, 03:40:43 PM
I am getting ready to put the door windows in and I need a good glue/sealer to glue in the window channel in the doors. I'm not sure contact cement is good enough and I want to steer clear from silicone if I can. What are you guys using?

Chopper, I use this Weldwood contact cement for the weather strip that goes in the metal (or wood) channel of the window opening(type pictured), it has more of a cloth material. If it is rubber backed I use 3m Weather Strip Adhisive(automotive) that comes in a sqeeze tube. It's available in black or yellowish color.

Chopper  on my 38 I used a little weather strip adhesive and put in some small flat head screws about 2" inches from the  radius of the corners to hold it in so far no problems. On my 32 I plan on doing the same thing except cutting the corners square which will make it a three piece channel instead of a single peice.
