I pulled the front fenders off my 1930 Chevy Coach to do some body work under and on top. At the time I filled in the holes where the headlight bar mounts to the fenders. I did this because I could never get the bar exactly level and I just thought I would drill more holes. Now that the fenders are back on, it looks kind of cool like a blank canvas to do something different.
What do you all think about the stock look of the bar as opposed to something different like maybe stands? Any suggestions?

Munch, if you are running fenders I don't think you have a whole lot of choices. Maybe I would get rid of the straight bar and use a single or double chrome arched bar. If you really want stands, how about the ones on the side of the radiator shell like on the mid/late '30's?

In my opinion I like the stands instead of the bars, I plan on hanging mine off the radiator shell down low closer to the fenders.

You guys may think I'm suffering from PMS or something along those lines...but I'm been looking at the possibility of mounting a set of MG-TF front fenders on my 33 Chevy. The 33 is raked and channeled and I like the MG headlights molded into the fenders which sit high on the radiator....re pros are made in fiberglass..

Nothing personal, but you might need to take a pill and rethink that, leave the skirted fenders on your 33.

No, Ed, not PMS :o. Actually, it doesn't sound bad. It would definitely set your car apart. You're talking about '33 Chevy fiberglass repos, right? How would you make the headlight buckets, fiberglass too? Isn't Moose good with photoshop? Maybe he can come up with a rendering.

No, seriously, it is definitely something to look into, it's almost a '70's custom look (remember the "World Of Wheels" carshows?). This might be that something different that you are looking for too, Munch.

Your 33 might end up looking like a 33 willys, but that is not all bad.

If you can find some stands that will mount square they might look good. does the headlight bar act as a fenders support also?

10-4...really don't want a cookie cutter car....stock fenders won't just drop in either. Extended my hood 5", dropped the radiator about 4", leaned it back, and raked the stance. So if I even run OEM style front fenders...they will need modification.

Found these fiberglass headlight buckets from Premier Streetrods. They are 41-46 Chevy P.U. I suppose if you like the style the could be glassed on to your fender of choice, but at $115 ea. you would really have to like them.

Yes Ghost, the bar attached to the fender through the fender brace underneath. It does tie the two together and I suppose make the whole setup more ridged.
I'm going to look for some pictures for ideas.

Saw that done to a 33 ford sedan that was chopped channeled, sectioned....??? out of detroit michigan by a guy named jack Picnik ??? , back in the 70's. Looked pretty cool.
I cannot remember if the headlights were mounted down low on the fender or whether they were mounted closer to rad shell down low for a squeezed look .
personally ya gotta be real careful specifically about placement. Would do a lot of holding tapeing and also taking pictures of the movement and placement on the fender. After a short period and consultations with best friend....wifie, buddie ? pick it then go too it.
missed the part about using skirtless mg fenders thought just the headlight pots.

Hi Ghost,
I have the 4 link and am saving the money to buy the coil overs, just about there. Then I will have to find someone to mount the brackets. I cannot wield unfortunately. I do need to learn.
Hopefully I am close, can't wait to see how it rides.
