I am curious if many of you are prepared to be caught in the rain, windshield wipers, defroster, weather stripping, etc.? I eventually want to drive out of town without worrying about getting caught. I probably need to at least upgrade my single wiper in the 30, any suggestions?

Most my friends preach about RainX, And I have been caught out in rain, hail, and snow in a few of my cars. The wipers are nice to have, and sealing up the car is needed. As for heat and defroster once in awhile, I used the air conditioning for the most part.

I second RainX.....really only need the wipers for inspection.

Been using rain-X for a long time, think it originally came in a goodie bag at one of the nsra nats I went to

I thought I had my old dried out Nevada desert pickup pretty roadworthy, heater, defroster, electric wipers, fairly new door and cowl seals ,etc. That was until we took it to the Lone Star Roundup in Austin, Texas and got caught in one of those tornado producing rain storms. Water was running in all around the old windshield rubber and out over the door sills. Our carefully tarped clothes and gear in the bed didn't dry out until we got home. All in all it was a fun trip. ;D

OK guys not to tell you i told you so But here goes First you wash your windshield with soap and water.Rinse well. Then you get yourself some OOOO steel wool and scrub all the imperfections, nitches and bugs that the soap and water did not get off, Rinse this again. Then apply the rain X. you will not believe the difference. You should also wash the inside of your windshield with Windex and or water and vinegar. takes off all the glare and smoke residue god forbid lol lol vette59jdwl

I always just used windex to clean the windshield, never thought about using 4=o steel wool to super clean it.
Guessing the 4==0 steel wool is not going to do any damage to the glass or scratch the glass. Its a new one on me. Have to find a piece of glass and try it.

Ordered single wiper from speedway # 911-23502 Stainless with Auto park and 11'' blade and switch. Going to mount this unit for fit before putting steel top in, and then don't have to worry about it at inspection at least it will be there when and if I need it when I get on the road.. But for the most part I'm a fan of Rain-X

I'm a big fan of Rain-x also. When getting my car ready to go out I always wipe the windows down.
