Finishing up the LT1 swap in the 37 sedan. The 95 donor Camaro drive shaft is about 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" too short. If I can install a longer slip yoke like the one in the picture...could be good to go.
In the picture the top yoke is the 95 Camaro..it is 3.5" long which is 1.5" shorter than the one below it. The lower yoke is one I had laying around...it has outside snap rings.
The upper yoke uses inside rings and the caps are "slightly" larger in diameter.
Do I need to locate a longer slide yoke with inside lock rings?
Ed
FYI: Yoke is 27 spline, stock drive shaft is 41.5" center to center of U-joint caps...need approx a 43" shaft. In case anyone has parts to sell.

Ed..I have swapped yokes to gain a little extra length and used a combo inner and outer lock rings with no problem If the U joint is the correct size to accommodate both the shaft and the yoke you should have no problem. As I remember GM actually had replacement yokes for some G body cars back in the day that came with internal lock rings to be installed as replacement on OEM drive shafts that had external lock rings

That's what I originally thought...now that I have them in front of me it's obvious that yoke with internal clips has a slightly larger u-bolt cap diameter and the caps won't press into the longer yoke that uses outside clips.
Looks like I probably should try to locate a long yoke with inside clips for the best chance of being compatible.
Thanks

Ed...Would any of these yokes work. I dealt with these guys with my 32 and they were very helpful. If you don't see anything maybe you could give them a call

Thanks Moose...I have some research to do tomorrow. Going online at Autozone/Advance: the 1995 Camaro Z28 calls for the 3011 and 3011 style U-Joint (inside clip).
Most 27 spline GM yokes offered list using the 1310 series U-Joint that has the outside clip...but the same 1-1/16" diameter cap.
Maybe use inside clips on the shaft side and outside clips on the yoke side?

They also used to sell U-joints with two different sized cups just for this kind of stuff.

Getting closer...here is one adapter U-joint outside to inside clips.
