Title: Trunk prop rod???????

Small dilemma............... after building this car and then in my haste to paint it, I forgot one important thing. A trunk prop rod. I don't have the original. Anybody out there have one? How about some ideas on what you guys are using? Thanks in advance.

I did the same thing. No prop rod in place, I'll  figure it out hopefully or I will steel your idea.  ;D

Anyone ever try these? I have seen these used and they function great for deck lids.
Most deck lids are light enough that you only need one hinge. They sell in pairs so you'll have a extra
for your next build or you could just sell it to a friend who needs one.

I can send someone a picture if they want to post it on here so they can see what they look like installed.
I posted the eBay link just as a example of what these hinges look like. I've seen other styles like round holes drilled in them instead of oval holes. When you want the deck lid to stay up you just pull the hinge toward you a little bit. The hinge will kind of lock in place.
When you want to close it all you do is push the hinge away from you and then you can close your deck lid. One word of caution.... Because the hinge has a scissor motion you can pinch your fingers if your not careful.

Mechanically they look to work like a stock hinge..they just look better. If you want them...don't think too long..they are Buy It Now.

Thanks, Wally. I like those, but then it's a matter of mounting, and clearance issues when it is folded closed. I am thinking a little more low-tech, simple and cheap. This is what they used on Furds:

What did they use on the old Chevy's? I can't find anything, not even a picture.

I REALLY should have addressed this BEFORE I painted the car!

I have a friend who has a 1927 model T coupe with the gas tank in the trunk. There is no room in the trunk but he has the hinge that I showed you on eBay holding up his deck lid. ( I keep saying hinge but it's more of a prop rod and not used as a hinge )

look at a 65 corvair  . the one in the engine compartment. it worked on my 31 and bolts in with 4 screws or bolts
