He is alive because he is in California. One state to the east your car is your home. You can defend yourself in your car the same as you can in your house. If someone breaks in or is making harmful threats they better be backing up. No permit is needed to carry a loaded handgun in your car or openly on your person. I can't remember the last time I heard about a carjacking or this type of road rage around here. I'm sure it happens but it is not wise. It is amazing how many women here are armed.
