Title: A six year project
Post by: ghost28 on February 26, 2013, 02:01:50 PM
A friend has been building this 34 standard 3 window for the past 6 years.  The quality of his build is amazing, from the steel structure of the body, all the way down to the engine and transmission selection. The attention to detail  is so far above what I build it just leaves me in awe. Anyway he just got it out of the paint booth and it looks amazing. The top color is a 3 stage brandywine red, and the bottom  color is a light gold metalic.

He would love to be driving it this summer, but he also loves to take his time. we will see. The engine is a lt1 with a 4l60e transmission. The frame detail is as good as the body or better. The pic's I have of the frame are rather large, but I will post them anyway....John

Top notch! What a beautiful job.  I can see what you mean about attention to detail.  Please keep us posted on his progress.  I'd love to see how it turns out.

Ray or busy busy and I went over and helped mount the body for the 34 chevy, but I forgot to bring my camera. I will try to get some pics of the assembly of the car for future. Everytime I look at the quality of sonnys work. I just want to give up, but I know it just pushes me to be better,
YEAH RIGHT......John

A little more completed. The wiring for the most part is done and the body and all the shiny stuff is going on. I think he is still trying to get it together for a ride this summer.

Looking better all the time. I think that getting it on the road for the summer is definitely doable.

Well he keeps getting a little more done to the 34. Mounted the rear fenders, tail lights hood and grille shell. He even took it for a few rides around his area. It will be going in for upholsterythe end of this month. I'll keep you informed.

WOW...Are you going to run without front fenders?  I ask because I plan to run my 5 window coupe with just rear fenders.

Really looks great...

Naw. he says he is gonna run it full fendered. They are all painted and ready to go on after the upholstery. He needed the rear fenders mounted because of the hidden bolts that will be under the trunk upholstery.

Holy Uckfay Batman, somebody has more talent in their little finger than some of us .... never mind!

What a fabulous job!  And leather on the garnish moulding?  Now I've seen everything.  Truly spectacular.  I don't suppose my Mexican blankets will really cut it now...

Sonny came by today while he was cruizing. I guess he is working all the bugs out of it. What a nice way to chase bugs.

Thanks guys. He is having ablast with it. Now that he has the car finished he will be selling off all the extra parts and hardware left over from the build. I believe this will include fenders both glass andf steel, grille shells, and more I will keep you all informed of when.
