tell us about that blower motor! im building a blown bbc for the 28,id like to hear about your experiences.

What do you want to know?
Only problem i had was overheating.  Took a bit to figure out.  I using a edelbrock water pump (better flow side to side that's why it was used) and the standard SBC water pump pulley with a BDS crank pulley made the water pump 12% underdriven....that's the reason i was running warm.  Swapped that out for a smaller water pump pulley so it was a 1 to 1 ratio on the crank/water pump and problem solved.
It runs great. 608hp and 605tq. 383 with late 70's smog heads, hyd roller cam.  pulls 500+ tq at 2100rpm.  the suspension and rear end on my 28 is not setup for that  power, so it doesn't plant the tires, just spins....gotta let out of the go pedal to stop spinning...and that's 1 gear, 2 gear, 3 gear, and i'm sure 4 gear would be the same.
That motor's coming out of the 28 and going into my 32, as the 32 will be setup for the motor rear suspension and rear end wise.  Really want to see what it will do with a decent set of sticky tires, plan is to be in the upper 10's in the 1/4 mile.
Blowers are great, but mainly used in vacume, not boost, so your dragging down the motor down power wise until you get out of vacume and into boost.    It's crazy, as i'm used to motors that as the RPM gets up, you usually hit a point and you can feel them start loosing power...this thing keeps making more and more power!  Couldn't imagine a BBC in a light car with a blower..that's going to be CRAZY FUN.
Here's a clip of one of the dyno runs. gotta click on the pic and watch sideways

and that was a 6500 pull that made 18psi of boost.  That should blow up a GM sbc.  was running a 1 to 1 pulley.  We actually stopped making pulls till I ran home and got different pulleys to underdrive it.  Most commercial blower companys 'dummy' the clearances down on blower so they only make 10psi, as that won't hurt even a  stock motor.  I got my blower rebuilt by a 'little' guy that's been doing blowers for 30+ years and knows how to make them work.  Ended up 11.5% underdriven and still making 16psi....but in the real world i'm not making W.F.O. 6500 runs with the motor like the dyno.  Yah, i've hit 6000 with it, but at that point, i'm grabbing for the next gear.

Any other info needed, just ask, not a expert, but I have done lots and lots of research before heading into blown motors

Great pictures. Glad to see someone keeping the front leaf springs.
