New Guy here...from the HAMB
« on: November 07, 2013, 07:21:17 PM »
Can't believe i've not seen this site before.  Someone mentioned it on the hamb so I had to check it out.
Born and raised as a Chevy guy.
Put a 401 nailhead in my first old chevy, a 31 pickup.  that got sold to fund my 28 touring project, and the 28's driveable, but might have to sell to fund my dream car.....my dad's old 32 5 window coupe.  He go it around '57, him and my grandpa built a little hot rod outta it.  late 60's it got disassembled for restoration.   As a child I can remember the frame bolted flat on a wall in the garage and the body hanging over the 63 vette.  Dad sold it in the late 80's so it was out of the family for a few years.  I graduated high school and wanted it really bad...i mean really bad.  He got the body back and it took me 18 years to finally convince him i needed it....or he found his dream car, 32 roadster body (experimental metal) and he could finally make a deal with me.  It's been sitting in my garage for a year or so, as i'm collecting parts and pieces.  It will be a long project, but will start the big stuff this winter.

Welcome to the Rusty Bowtie.  Glad to have you here!  Pass the word about the forum, the more Chevy / GM guys the better.

Thanks everyone.
There's lots of stuff for my 32 I need...but i gotta check with dad first, everytime i buy something, he yells at me because he's got a few of them already I could have had.
Can't find any decent pics of my 31 truck...but this was at World of Wheels a few years back.  Next to a buddys 31 chev 5 window

Day i sold the 31

My 28 when i brought it home...yah it was a project

wood removal

Frame boxing and crossmember

Starting to take shape

Gotta add WAY to much motor

Sunny day last winter, and couldn't resist

First run (gotta click on the pic for video)

The 32 at the farm...pic is dated 62

My 32 in the mid 60's

Sad day when dad sold it in late 80's

Happy day when i got to get my 32.  That's dad's 32 EMI roadster next to it

She's finally home so had to add a few parts and pieces

Chrome stock front axle

No motor in this shot, but this is the first time in 25+ years it's actually has front suspension and on tires

Plans are to get the frame done before year end so it's a roller.  Swap the 28's motor into the 32, maybe fire it up next year and drive it?  Probably pushing my luck and time allowed to play cars, but i gotta dream of that day i can drive it right?

Welcome aboard PBRmeASAP. I remember you from the HAMB, I think you are going to like it here.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn
