That's a nice project. Sounds like its gonna be a great driver. It looks like the wood has been replaced with steel. Did you do that yourself?

Yes, I have been replacing wood with steel from day one, it seems. Have a look at what I started with

I'm on hold until I can get the door frame fixed, cowl is out of wack!

Wow.... what difference between the before and after shots. It's great to see an old Chevy that was so far gone coming back to life. Nice work! I've done a couple of projects like that and I know what a challenge it can be but the end result will be well worth the effort. Keep the pic's coming!!!!

When I began replacing the wood with steel I decided to make it removable. There are bolted joints.

I like the idea of bolting it together. Did you use some of the original corner brackets and braces that supported the wood? I have thought about using Dzus fasteners for some of the body panels on my roadster. I'm glad you are running a straight 6. It was Chevrolet's overhead inline engines that set them apart. Set a lot of speed records too.

Looks good.  Everyone makes a big deal outta pulling wood out and replacing with metal.
I like the idea of bolting it to...may use that in the future

Can any one take a side view photo of the front windshield, in such a way that both windshield posts are flush with each other.
-When I eye mine up, they are not parallel. one is out by 1/2".

What should the door gaps be around the door frame?

We'll my 32 windshield frame was cut for a chop , but the guy clearly didn't know what he was doing and tried patching it back up.

When I eye the driversside windshield post up with the passenger side they don't match. I know the driversside post is the one out of shape. Something is fishy with it. I'll post some pics when I get the chance

I could use some pictures showing the door gaps and measurements of them

I cut the windshield post and will be fixing the drivers side door frame. Can any one supply some pictures of the front door pillar and how it sits.

Its the 1/8" sheet metal thats follows along the cowl, perpendicular to the cowl skin. It arches up at the top of the door frame.
