I talked to the guy the engine came from (a friend of my son's). He never removed the cap. We saw and heard the engine run. I might get a better idea when I try to start this thing :o I'm not going to sweat it now.

Sometimes it is surprising what will run.  :o

I was thinking the same as Ed. People usually pull cap for more room to get engine out and bug hits firewall on the way out.

Last convertible for 2021. It'll have to wait until next year to get completed. 😝😉

Pulled the trans pan on the Camaro and pulled out the shift shaft seal and pin. I never did it before so I was very cautious to take note of what I took apart and how it came out. I was a little too overcautious...I put the shaft in backwards, installed the seal, went to bolt on the selector pawl.....DOH!!! I took it all apart and did it right....the second time, luckily I had two shaft seals. Here's some pic's, the first one is the broken shaft.

I've had to have that seal replaced years ago .

Last week I noticed I wasn't getting that much heat in the jeep.  Thought it may be a thermostat. Replaced it this morning but still weak heat.
Too cold 🥶 right now to be hooking up the outside faucet to reverse flush the heater core.  May send it to the shop next door Monday.

Have I told you about the smartest thing my wife and I ever did while buying a new car? When we bought her new Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2014 (that's not it) the bought a Lifetime Warrantee. It cost around $4000. Right after the factory warrantee ran out so did the transfer case. That alone paid for the Life Time one. It is in the shop right now getting upper and lower control arm bushings for the second time, an AC evaporator, and another transfer case. It only has 115,000 miles. As long as they keep fixing it we will keep driving it. They don't offer this warrantee any more and it is non-transferable. The bill this time would be well over $5,000 with labor.

We have had 2 new Cherokees, 2 new Grand Cherokees, and one used Grand Cherokees we inherited from my wife's dad. We had better luck with all of the others. I can not seeing us buying another new Jeep but I can not see a reason to get rid of this one. There is a clause in the contract that once the repair is greater than the value of the car they can just pay us the value of the car.

What surprises me is that this one has the "Trail Rated" 4x4 package. The toughest one available. Because of our mild winters the last few years it has not seen the rough conditions all of the others saw. But with virtually everything in the running gear covered along with computer operated stuff with a $100 dollar deductible. Our insurance covers glass, body damage & towing. All we have to do is tires, brakes, and wiper blades. Will probably need seat covers some day. The logos are wearing off of some of the selector buttons.  :)

97-99 are the best years.
00-01's you want to avoid due to head issue's.

Here's today's progress on the top.
Started off with major wrinkles.  Then did a few small adjustments before tearing it all apart.
Last pic.  Assembled back together but... there's a few more to do in the morning.
This car seems a tad shorter on the driver's side. Usually try and make adjustments equal to both sides and not all cars are square.

Pass side is almost wrinkle free.

Nice work Rattiac!
Spending time with my grandkids gets in the way of finishing my car but I don't regret it!
