Did Speedway stop selling 30's Chevy fiberglass panels?
« on: September 01, 2013, 03:11:08 PM »
Had coffee at my buddies shop this morning and was looking through what he said was Speedway's latest streetrod catalog.  Couldn't locate any early 30's Chevy fiberglass panels?

They had 30's Ford and 50's Chevy fiberglass panels, Ford bodies etc.....not sure which catalog number it was...but I remember there was a dark colored 2 door sedan on the cover..probably a Ford.

Did I look hard enough? Some of the Chev panels are on sale via their web page.

Ed,
I still saw some on their web page and they have some stuff on EBay.

I purchased a few parts a few months back, they were not in stock and had to be made, what I have found is that they change what is shown in the catalogue you really need to call and ask.

I did see the parts online...but didn't even see the normal 33-34 Chevy section in the catalog.

BTW: The 33/34 fiberglass rear deck lids were on sale.

Son of a gun! I never picked up on this. I just went through my last four catalogs (350, 351, 352, 353), the only fiberglass parts are Ford. I bought a gas tank apron off them about a year ago, not the best quality but it worked for me.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

I bought a set of rear fenders back in March, They seem to be made well and the fit is good.

The web site has some Chevy glass parts, (some on sale)..I suspect they are getting rid of their Chevy body parts stock.

The two fenders I bought, they only had one in stock and was told they had to make the other and it   would ship in two weeks, I was also told by the sales person that they make their own fiberglass stuff in their fiberglass shop.

Just got the latest Speedway catalog in the mail. Fiberglass Chevy and GM parts are alive and well. However, Speedy Bill's wife passed away. Lots of early pictures on the cover and first page. They are no one to me but it is sad.

Hey don't worry! I have been to the speedway facility, even walked thru the fiberglass section in search of rear fenders that had the right shape for the 27 that I built.

They make their own Fiberglass parts and have the molds right in Lincoln.  Because the parts will change shape as the cure they don't like to make too many parts at a time. At least that's what they told me.

I have meet Speedy and the late Joyce on a few times at their open house after the power tour.
She was and he is some of the best people you could meet.

The speedway museum makes any other look like a broom closet.  It is well worth the trip.

Never underestimate the power of a lubricant.
