Title: waterpumps and clutches
Post by: trbomax on December 26, 2013, 08:34:52 PM
I think I have figured out how I am going to mount the motor and run the waterpump. There is almost 6" between the block and the blower belt.If I dont use the aluminum front motor mounts, and use a regular stamped timeing chain cover instead of the cast aluminum one,the l-88 aluminum waterpump will not contact the blower belt. I will have to use 2 idlers on it so as to allow room for the water pump nose/shaft.I will have to make some special pullys ,one for the pump(maybe just a spacer) and a 2 groove one to bolt on the crank snout. I can build a hurst type saddle mount that uses just the lower 4 bolts on the front of the block. Now that I'm pretty sure I can even use the blower setup,I can pull the motor and bring it north for disassenbly this spring.

On another note, does anyone have any acess to an old Zoom clutch book to find the specs on this? Its new and I think I got it back in the 70's for the wifes 427/425 hp vette. Thinking about weather its sutable for the 28?
