Title: Stick or Automatic?
Post by: themoose on April 18, 2013, 03:45:22 PM
There was a time in my younger day when I wouldn't be caught dead driving an automatic car but now that I'm older (NOT THAT OLD) I don't mind sitting back and letting the transmission do the work. My current ride is automatic but I still get a kick out of rowing through the gears...got no choice when I'm on my Harley.Thought I'd start a poll to see what you guys think.

Moose,
I went with an automatic because I want to let some of my family drive it.  My 25 year old daughter in particular is really interested in driving it.  She wants to be the one to drive into "The Cruise Downtown".  That's our cities annual event where they close down the main street and have a huge car show.

My car has an automatic, but only because that's what was in it when I bought it and I just didn't have the cash to make the switch. So, maybe the next car I build will have a stick. I hope so, anyway ;D

I like the hot cup of coffee being balanced in my right hand..and my left steering!  It's a pain trying to steer, shift and drink coffee at the same time.

Do like a stick in my work trucks - especially when towing.

Most of the rods I have built have been automatics. I guess it was just easier to build them that way, but in my early years of racing around with my tri five chevys they all had 4 speeds of some kind. I guess with my new knees and all I just want my roadster project to have a 4 speed again just for grins, and a whole lot more fun and coolness. We will se how it works out.

I put automatic's in both of mine. That was what was there when I bought the projects. I like the ease of driving them.
