Title: The mundane valve stem....NOT
Post by: themoose on May 21, 2013, 08:54:38 PM
We tend to overlook the importance of some items that are usually are so trouble free that they hardly even enter into our thought process when planning and building a hot rod. One of those items is the valve stem. What could go wrong? Well as it turns out plenty. I was reading a post on the HAMB where a guy talked about his valve stems breaking off at the face of the wheel causing rapid loss of air resulting in a shredded tire and another one that failed a year earlier both form the same supplier The failure could have caused far worse problems...He was lucky. I did some research and found the attached PDF that talks about what you need to know these days when buying valve stems.

Never gave any of that a thought.  I think I have plastic valve caps too!
