Yes, that is the dash, brake warning light switch.
Tighten it up til it strips, then back it off a quarter turn

Ahh that what it was.  Couldn't remember what it was for.
New switch should arrive today.  It's a Ron Francis unit.

Well I thought I might be able to re-engineer the bracket but it looks like the only way.
Anyways,  brake lights are going again and set the switch so it's not so sensitive as before.

Might have to start driving the 32 to work.  It's the only vehicle I have that gets decent gas mileage. 😆
 Pontiac ---- gets 20mpg.  :o
Cherokee ---- 10mpg towing or not .
Dakota ---- 10 towing, 14-16 city.

Sounds like a good idea. Cars seem to like being used, keeps them from complaining about being left alone😁

That reminds me, a buddy down south of Joplin Mo owns a mechanic shop. Last year he really got discusted working on the newer stuff. His two boys are real sharp on this newer stuff, so he turned them over to the boys. He went back to working only on the older stuff and projects.

He said in the last 2 months people in his area are dragging the old 60s thru 80s stuff out of the trees and barns for him to get running again. Seems they have had enough of these later model stuff. Just want daily drivers, so he 's been getting them running and to pass safety inspections. Says working on this older stuff is just what he needed. 🙂

When I was selling parts at the first sign of rising gas prices I'd be selling oil change & tune up kits for Toyota 22Rs. A guy I know would roll out his '55 Studebaker coupe.

Drove it to work today and while I was on break,  took it over to Rhino Liners to get a quote for the running boards.  Gonna pull the passenger front fender to get that fixed at the same time.

Been doing alittle tuning to the carb.  I kind of enjoy this.
My carb was tuned to pass I/M when it was in the other car.  I decided to fatten it up a bit,  maybe pull a few extra hp out of it.
Had to figure out what I had in there. Looking at my notes apparently I had it leaned about 12% , 3 stages.  #10 on the book, Jet&rod.
So I went back to baseline  #1 just to see how bad it was.  Fell on its face, shifted early and quiet exhaust

I swapped out the rod's to spot (#6 on the book ). Brought back the power,  small stumble when I mash the pedal but runs cooler in the heat.  Doesn't stall when I power brake it though.
Did readjust the idle mixture and set the timing , seems better.

I may spend a day, swap back to #10 and back to #6 to see the difference.
The book says up to 6000ft elevation it's recommended 2 stages leaner #6. Im at 4,300ft.

Those things are fun to play with because they made it so easy. The one on my son's Stude was tougher. The carb was in a box because of the supercharger.  Rod & jet changes took a bit more time.We had to leave the secondaries a bit fat for all the extra air in the upper Rs & we had to go with mechanical secondaries. I did some more figuring beside the chart provided in the manual. All in all it was fun.

Here's the new TH200R4 Overdrive trans.
Sent it to the trans guy during break.  He'll be checking to see if it's rebuilt and getting the dipstick/kick down cable for it along with a shift kit.

I'll order the stall converter for it.  Probably higher stall than what I have currently.  2,000/2,500 should do.
Oh and the lockout kit.

More pics when it let's me.
