Title: Window Regulators
Post by: munch on July 18, 2014, 03:20:44 PM
I have a 1930 Coach and some of the window handles slip on the regulator splines.  Does anyone have any ideas for repair without having to buy the $65.00 a piece regulator repair kits?

Munch, I have drilled a small hole ( with handle on reg) 1/16 or next size larger, and put a roll pin in them before. I guess it would depend on you being able to get the drill in a tight spot. Good luck

Question.......Is it the splines inside the window winder handles or....... is it the spline on the winder mechanism ?

If its the splines inside the handles , then best to find a couple of new handles.  Custom chevy handles were made by billet specialties with correct splines.

Every once in a while an original repair kit appears on ebay, fits 1929--1938 PASSENGER CARS Chevrolet.  See if I can find the one on ebay I saw few days ago. and post a link to it.

YOU WANT THIS ONE......CHAMP ITEMS ***ONLY # 991 ***
only thing missing is the coiled spring.  Put it on an ebay search and every time one shows up for sale ebay will notify you.  Prices on these range from $5 too $30 depends on seller.
I typed in "window regulator repair kit #991 "

He means he won the ebay auction for the CHAMP ITEMS repair kit as posted in pictures above.  If he needs another the #991 kit appears on ebay from time to time.

See what happens when it arrives from the shipper and installs it.  I got a couple I bought for my 35 coupe, 25 years ago, never had to use them yet.
