Empty Rocking Chair In My Garage
«

There's an empty rocking chair in my garage. My Dad spent many hours in it watching as I built my Chevy. He was born the same year as the car, 1933. He died last Friday after a long courageous battle with cancer. He got the first ride in the car when we got it on the road. He accompanied me for a lot of the 5,500 miles I have on the car. I'll miss our rides we enjoyed on the back roads of New Hampshire just enjoying each others company.
Today my sister and I took his ashes for a final ride in the Hot Rod to the cemetery. I'm sure he was looking down on us enjoying the ride. RIP Dad.

Tom my condolence's to you and your family. I've been a little quite on the site due to the loss of my mother on June 2nd, the 32 I'm building was also her birth year same as my dad who passed in 2012. As we prepared my mothers obituary and funeral arrangement's we did a picture video of her life and in one of the pictures of childhood there was 1932 Chevrolet sedan that my grandparents owned. My mother never had the chance to see my car, I often think if she would have remembered them owning one and would it have brought back memories for her. Its a painful loss my friend I know, it does get a little easier every day. My prayers go out to you and your family. God Bless

Tom, Sorry to hear about your dad. The part of us that endures is in the hearts of those who loved us. I lost my dad in 1966 when I was 21. Today while working on my '68 flatbed I used skills he taught me. I used some words he taught me too. Your dad will always be with you. You just won't be able to see him for a while.

Tom, so sorry to hear about the loss your Dad. My heart felt condolences to you and your family. I remember you posting a pic of the first drive in the '33, and the smile on your Dad's face.
62131, sorry to hear about your mother as well.

Thanks guys, you're a great bunch!
62131 sorry for the loss of your Mom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know what you mean about being quite. My wife and I have been busy taking care of both my Mom and Dad for the last year. Not much time to get anything done on the car.

Tom, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. I'm sure we all understand how you feel, I know I do. I lost my Dad just before I bought my car, eight years ago. There is no doubt that your Dad was proud of you, not just for what you did with your car, but because of the man you are. My condolences to you and your family. Jim
